History of Taiho Jutsu

The Tomiki Aiki Kai, Stratford upon Avon was founded in 1966 and is the longest running martial arts club in the district.

The arts of taiho-jutsu, Tomiki Aikido and Judo are taught at Shottery Memorial Hall and at Stratford upon Avon leisure centre.
During the past 43 years the club has attracted many leading japanese exponents of mainly Aikido and also Judo. We have also been successful in sport Aikido competition, winning the British Aikido Association National Team Championships for nine consecutive years from 1973 to 1981 and also many individual titles at both Randori and Kata.
Since 1996 the main element of teaching has been taiho-jutsu, a system of self defense which include restraint methods. The system was designed by Brian Eustace for the Home Office C P.U. To train police instructors in this country. The system is also in use in other countries and has been demonstrated in Japan, France, Czech Republic and Switzerland.
